Noemi Perez

"Nemo" determination on and off the court and her never give up attitude made her unique in every way. Her ability to be well liked by her friends, coaches and teammates will always standout as her best quality. She helped Arvin win South Sequoia League titles in volleyball (2006) and basketball (2007) and was voted most inspirational athlete in volleyball, basketball and track. In 2018, Noemi was inducted to the Arvin High School Hall of Fame for her athletic achievements.

Coach Gary Sedam

Gary Sedam was a teacher and boys’ basketball coach at Arvin High School from 1968-1985. Under coach Sedam’s guidance, the Arvin Boys Basketball teams were known for their hustle, determination and grit. Sadam's teams won two championships, 1972 and 1976 - Coach Sedam’s teams were always well respected and feared by their opponents for their outstanding play. He is a member of the Arvin and North High Hall of Fame.

Coach Frank Thiessen  (July 14 1938 - August 6, 2019)

A great coaching legend showing that attribute for more than 50 years as a high school tennis, football and girls basketball coach; first at Wasco and later at Bakersfield Christian. He was inducted to the Bob Elias Hall of Fame in 2018.

Coach Todd Denison (January 18, 1959 - August 8, 2018)

In nine seasons as head coach of the Lady Rams from 2006 until his retirement in 2015, Denison led Garces to two Central Section championships. The program held a 236-36 overall record, a win percentage of .867 that few coaches in section history can rival over that span.

Ralph Gonzales was a teacher at Arvin High School for 10 years. He taught history. While teaching he coached sports such as baseball and boy’s golf. After his successful coaching career, Ralph answered to anther calling. He became athletic director for the school. As an athletic director Ralph help shaped all the sports in Arvin High. He said in that position for 16 years and during that time built great relationships with students, coaches and staff. He is now retired as of 21-22 sports season, but his impact to Arvin High School will always be remembered.

Coach Fred Olague (October 22, 1955 -  June 28, 2012)

 Fred was a giant of a man with a giant heart to match. Everyone he met was an instant friend for life, every student he taught or coached admired and looked up to him. For years he lovingly served the community as a junior high basketball coach and a year at Highland High School Girls Basketball.

The name Larry Hallum (September 4, 1943 - April 22, 2023) might be familiar to you. He was a veteran who served in the Vietnam War, a teacher and coach at Arvin High School, a husband, and a father to twin sons. Most importantly, he was a man who loved his community, and they loved him even more. Hallum's passion for teaching started at Arvin High School, where he was also a student. He taught multiple subjects, and also coached multiple sports. Hallum was loyal to Arvin High his impact was widespread, and all who loved Hallum can remember the mark he made on their lives.
